From Ottoman Turkish طاتلو‎ (datlı, “sweet”) in the pastry’s name طولومبه طاتلیسی (tulumba datlısı, tulumba tatlısı). Doublet of تَطْلِيّ‎ (taṭliyy, “jam”).
