بیلهجك
Ottoman Turkish
Etymology
An evolution of the original Byzantine Greek name Βηλοκώμη (Bēlokṓmē), probably a compound of Bulgarian бял (bjal, “white”) + -о- + Ancient Greek κώμη (kṓmē, “village”). It should be assumed that this was one of the Serbian settlements in this region, since the original Greek name would have produced a form like Vilegüme or Veligöme in Turkish.
Descendants
- Turkish: Bilecik
- → Armenian: Պիլէճիք (Pilēčikʻ)
