بوزا
Ottoman Turkish
Alternative forms
- بوزه (boza)
Etymology
Borrowed from Classical Persian بوزه (bōza, “boza”), a word related to بوزک (bowzak, “yeast; mould”), perhaps through Old Turkic [script needed] (buχsı /busï/), even though Nişanyan argues that a relation between Persian and Turkic is not apparent.
Derived terms
- بوزاجی (bozacı, “maker or seller of boza”)
- بوزاخانه (bozahane, “boza shop”)
