Inherited from Proto-Turkic *üŕeŋgü, from earlier *yüŕeŋgü (stirrup), and thus related to یوزوك (yüzük, ring);[1] cognate with Azerbaijani üzəngi, Bashkir өҙәңге (öźəñge), Chuvash йӑрана (jărana), Kazakh үзеңгі (üzeñgı), Kyrgyz үзөңгү (üzöŋgü), Turkmen üzeňňi, Uyghur ئۈزەڭگە (üzengge) and Uzbek uzangi.
