קרײַט (krayt, “herb”) + ־עכץ (-ekhts). קרײַט n (krayt), although itself obsolete, is cognate to German Kraut (“herb”), thus a doublet of קרויט (kroyt) (compare German Kraut (“(Southern German, Austria) cabbage”)).
קרײַטעכץ • (kraytekhts) n, plural קרײַטעכצן (kraytekhtsn) or קרײַטעכץער (kraytekhtser)
