From Biblical Hebrew צִידוֹן (Ṣīḏōn) and Aramaic ܨܝܕܘܢ (Ṣidon) from Phoenician 𐤑𐤉𐤃𐤅𐤍 (ṣydwn /⁠Ṣīdūn⁠/). Cognate of Ancient Greek Σιδών (Sidṓn).
