מתנות לאביונים / מַתָּנוֹת לָאֶבְיֹנִים • (matanót laevyoním) f (no plural forms, no construct forms)

  1. (uncountable) The giving of gifts, especially money, to the poor on Purim, or the requirement to do so.
  2. (plural only) The gifts so given.

Usage notes

  • The grammatical number of the uncountable noun is usually singular; of the plural, plural. The gender of the uncountable noun is usually feminine; of the plural, always feminine.
