Etymology

Uncertain; possibly comes from חָבַק (ḥāḇaq, embrace), from the root ח־ב־ק (embrace) or perhaps from Akkadian 𒄩𒄠𒁀𒄣𒄣 (ḫambaqūqu [ḫa-am-ba-qu-qu], garden herb).
