דמקה

דמקה

Etymology

Borrowed from Russian да́мка (dámka, the king in checkers/draughts), possibly via Yiddish דאַמקע (damke). Semantically without doubt influenced by German Dame (checkers, draughts) and equivalent names for the game in most European languages, eventually from French jeu de dames.
