Etymology
From Middle Armenian ոսլայ (oslay), earlier աւսլայ (awslay), of unknown origin.[1] Perhaps a corruption of Aramaic עמילא (amilā, “starch”),[2] from Ancient Greek ἄμυλον (ámulon).
