Middle Armenian

Etymology

From Old Armenian *սալոր (*salor), from Hurrian 𒄑𒄒 (GIŠKIB /⁠*s̄all-orə⁠/) or from the cognate Urartian *šaluri. Compare especially the dialectal form շլոր (šlor). The Hurrian word was borrowed also as Akkadian 𒄒 (šallūru).[1][2]
