մանչ

Armenian

Etymology

From Middle Armenian մանչ (mančʻ). The diminutive forms մանչուկ (mančʻuk) and մանչոն (mančʻon), which the authors of Nor baṙgirkʿ haykazean lezui thought to be dialectical forms of մանուկ (manuk), are attested in Old Armenian. Probably from Proto-Indo-European *mn̥(H)u-, from *men- (small), whence also մանուկ (manuk) and մանր (manr).
