Etymology

From կեղ (keł). For the suffix -եք (-ekʻ) compare բող-ոք-եմ (boł-okʻ-em), ող-ոք-եմ (oł-okʻ-em).

  1. (transitive) to tear, to rend
    կեղեքել զմիմեանսkełekʻel zmimeansto tear each other
    կեղեքել զսիրտkełekʻel zsirtto rend, to harrow, to break the heart
    կեղեքեմ զվէրսkełekʻem zvērsto rip up old sores, to open wounds afresh
  2. (transitive, figuratively) to afflict, to vex, to harass, to oppress
    կեղեքել զմիմեանսkełekʻel zmimeansto revile or malign each other
