Armenian

Alternative forms

Etymology

From Middle Armenian թաթպան (tʻatʻpan).

The dialectal form թաթման (tʻatʻman), if not an alteration of թաթպան (tʻatʻpan), may be from earlier *թաթաման (*tʻatʻaman), from թաթ (tʻatʻ) + աման (aman, container).[3][4] For such a formation compare ոտնաման (otnaman).
