Etymology

The original spelling is թագուրհի (tʻagurhi), borrowed wholly from Iranian, ultimately from Proto-Iranian *tāga-brθr̥yā, but the exact origin is undetermined. The first component is also found in թագ (tʻag), թագաւոր (tʻagawor). For the ending see -ուհի (-uhi).
