From դր- (dr-, “door”) + Proto-Armenian *and- (“door-frame, vestibule”), whence also անդաստակ (andastak) and perhaps անդ (and), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂énHt-ih₂; cognate with Sanskrit आता (ātā, “door-frame, door-posts”), Avestan 𐬄𐬌𐬚𐬌𐬌𐬁 (ąiθiiā, “door-post”), Latin antae (“square pilasters, wall posts of a temple”), Old Norse ǫnd (“front room, corridor”).[1][2][3]
