From Middle Persian *bāhuβand, from Old Persian *bādubandah (arm-band), from *bāduš, *bādukah (arm) + *bandah (binding, band), from Proto-Iranian *bándah. For the first part compare բազուկ (bazuk) and for the second بند (band) and -աւանդ (-awand).
