From *yalañač (nude, naked), from Proto-Turkic *yạlïŋ (naked; lone, solitary).

Cognate with Kazakh жалаңаш (jalañaş), Kyrgyz жылаңач (jılaŋac), Tatar ялангач (yalangaç, naked, nude), Crimean Tatar calanğaş (naked, barefoot), Uyghur يالاڭاچ (yala'ngach) / يالاڭغاچ (yalangghach, bare, naked), etc.
