Etymology
From an unattested masculine byform of Byzantine Greek ταρχόν (tarkhón) from Arabic طَرْخُون (ṭarḵūn, “tarragon”), also the origin of Serbo-Croatian trkos. Doublet of тарху́н (tarhún, “tarragon”), which has come to Bulgarian from Arabic via Turkish.
