скуша

Macedonian

Etymology

Unknown, but has the first syllable as if from the widespread Greek σκουμπρί (skoumprí). Snoj mentions a theory that it may be ultimately derived from Latin exustiō (burning), but notes that this is semantically difficult.[1]
