Per Vasmer, formed like разгуля́й (razguljáj, “fun place”), растрепа́й (rastrepáj, “ragamuffin”), etc.; possibly based in гиль (gilʹ, “confusion”). Per Trubachev, however, quoting Popov, derived from Tatar уразгильды (urazgil’dı), уразгильдей (urazgil’dey), also разгильдей (razgil’dey), Lua error in Module:utilities at line 142: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'h' (a nil value).
