Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic подвигъ (podvigŭ), a deverbal of подвигнѫти (podvignǫti)). Cognate to Russian по́двиг (pódvig) and Ukrainian по́двиг (pódvyh). For the [dv] to [d͡zʲvʲ] shift, compare дзве́ры (dzvjéry).
