Etymology
Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish پرتل (partal, “worn-out cloth”), a -lı derivative of Classical Persian پارچه (pārča, “piece, part”). Displaced Bulgarian пъртищ (pǎrtišt), which is cognate with the Persian lemma.
