From a Turkic source; Kazakh ошақ (oşaq), compare Kyrgyz очок (ocok), Uzbek o'choq, Turkish ocak (“stove”); from Old Turkic očaq, očuq (“stove, oven”). Ultimately from Proto-Turkic *ōtčak (“hearth”).
