нашатырь
Russian
Etymology
Inherited from Middle Russian нашатырь (našatyrʹ) (since 16th c.), from Persian نشادر (nošâdor, nošâder, “sal ammoniac”) probably via some Turkic intermediary, from Middle Persian 𐭠𐭭𐭥𐭱𐭠𐭲𐭥𐭥𐭩 (*ʾnwšʾdwr /*anōšādur/, “immortal fire”), combinated from 𐭠𐭭𐭥𐭱 (anōš /ʾnwš/, “elixir, antidote”, literally “immortal”) and 𐭠𐭲𐭥𐭥𐭩 (ʾdwr' /ādur/, “fire”).
