Derived from Ottoman Turkish لیلاق (leylak). The expected outcome is pricipally лилак (lilak) (attested dialectally), but in Bulgarian it has been reanalyzed under the influence of native люлея (ljuleja, “to rock”), люлка (ljulka, “swing”).
