ларьок

Ukrainian

Etymology

Borrowed from Russian ларёк (larjók).

Noun

ларьо́к • (larʹók) m inan (genitive ларка́ or ларька́, nominative plural ларки́ or ларьки́, genitive plural ларкі́в or ларькі́в)

  1. (colloquial) stall, kiosk
    купи́ти хліб у ларку́kupýty xlib u larkúto buy bread in a stall

Usage notes

The word лаpьо́к is somewhat uncommon and awkward in the Ukrainian language due to the soft sign following the letter р (r). This word can be declined in two ways: with the soft sign dropped (which is preferred) or with it retained.
