Etymology

From хи́пес (xípes, a special kind of theft with the assistance of an attractive prostitute; prostitute, stealing from the client), from Yiddish חופּות (khupes), the plural of חופּה (khupe, canopy used in a wedding ceremony) (from Hebrew חופה (khupá)), whence also slang хи́па (xípa, female genitalia).[1][2]
