Cognate with Old Uyghur jumšaq (“soft”); Tatar йомшак (yomşaq), Kazakh жұмсақ (jūmsaq), Southern Altai јымжак (ǰïmžak), Turkish yumuşak, Khakas нымзах (nımzax), Tuvan чымчак (çımçak), Yakut сымна (sımna), сымнаҕас (sımnağas), Chuvash ҫемҫе (śemś̬e, “soft”), etc.
