Inherited from Old Ruthenian етѵмоло́ґїа (etimológia), further borrowed Latin etymologia, from Ancient Greek ἐτυμολογία (etumología), from ἔτυμον (étumon, “true sense”) and -λογία (-logía, “study of”), from λόγος (lógos, “word; explanation”). Featuring the -логія (-lohija) ending.
