Learned borrowing from Latin eczema, from Ancient Greek ἔκζεμᾰ (ékzema, cutaneous eruption), from ἐκζέω (ekzéō, to boil out, break out) + -μᾰ (-ma, nominal suffix).[1] Compare Russian экзе́ма (ekzéma), Belarusian экзэ́ма (ekzéma).
