Cognate with Ukrainian дорі́дний (dorídnyj, productive; tall, large; natural, innate), Polish dorodny (healthy; beautiful; mature). Meanings such as "healthy", "beautiful", "good", "productive", etc. can be found dialectally in Russian. Per ESSJa, from Proto-Slavic *do- + *rodъ + *-ьnъ; compare Russian до- (do-), род (rod), -ный (-nyj).
