From Old East Slavic стани (stani) (imperative mood of стати (stati)) + слава (slava).[1] Akin to Belarusian Станісла́ў (Stanisláŭ), Bulgarian Станисла́в (Stanisláv), Czech Stanislav, Polish Stanisław, Russian Станисла́в (Stanisláv) and Slovak Stanislav.
