From χῶρος (khôros, place) + -έω (-éō).

  1. (intransitive) to withdraw; to give way to [+dative = someone], make room, vacate
  2. (intransitive, after Homer) to go forward, advance
  3. (transitive) to have room for, contain

Usage notes

In Attic the middle form is usually used for the future.
