κλαμβός
Ancient Greek
Etymology
The word shares the formation with κολοβός (kolobós, “mutilated, docked”) and σκαμβός (skambós, “crooked”), denoting a derivation from Pre-Greek. According to Beekes, the similarity with Lithuanian klumbas (“limping”) and Old English limpan (“to limp”) is only accidental.
