Wild Greens are a green political youth movement.
The movement began in 1997 when the Wild Greens, a semi-autonomous youth wing of the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, formed. New Zealand's Wild Greens, unlike their parent party, were committed to direct action and taking risks of bodily harm to protect the environment. The Wild Greens later disaffiliated from the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, with the party's youth arm being renamed to Young Greens. The Wild Greens movement has since spread from New Zealand to Canada, Australia, and elsewhere in the English-speaking world. Members of Wild Green groups are strongly associated with the anti-globalisation movement.
