St Thomas More Catholic High School is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school for 11- to 16-year-olds, situated close to the centre of Crewe, in Cheshire, England. There are nearly 700 pupils on the roll at the current time. The schools headteacher is Katherine Packham, who gained this position in September 2023.
History of the school
An Ofsted inspection of 2004 said that the school was "a very effective, successful school that is providing a high quality of education for its pupils". Subsequently, the school has gained Beacon School status acknowledging its very good practice.
The school was one of 62 schools to gain specialist school status in Mathematics and Information Communication Technologies in September 2006. This was added to in March 2009 with the achievement of specialist school status in Modern Foreign Languages.
The school converted to academy status in June 2013.
In the summer of 2023, the school was ranked as the second best across Cheshire, coming 23rd nationally. The academy’s former Headteacher, Clare Hogg, who spent her final day in the position on 20 July 2023, said “With Catholic social teachings at the heart of our curriculum, we develop the future leaders of tomorrow, with our high expectations, care and aspiration.”
In September 2023 Katherine Packham was appointed headteacher and said "I am excited and keen to begin this special task, where the children of our community are led by myself through their secondary school journey at St Thomas More Catholic High School."
