Kolai-Pallas District (Pashto: کولئي-پالس ولسوالۍ, Urdu: ضلع کولئی-پالس) is a district in the Hazara Division of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.[2][3][4][5] It was a sub-division of the Kohistan district within the Hazara division till it attained the status of a separate district in 2017.[6][7]
Overview and history
Kolai-Pallas Kohistan was carved as a district out of the District Lower Kohistan by upgrading the old Pallas sub-division in 2017.[8][2][9] On 31st of May, 2018, Battera Kolai was carved out of Pallas tehsil making two tehsils in total for Kolai-Pallas.[10][11]
Farhatullah Khan Marwat (PMS) was posted as the first ever Deputy Commissioner (Administrative Head) of the district by the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

At the time of the 2017 census, the district had a population of 274,923. Kolai-Palas District had a sex ratio of 844 females per 1000 males. The entire population was rural. 33.46% of the population were under 10 years of age. 7 people in the district were from religious minorities.[1]
The region is dominated by the Dardic people speaking Kohistani languages. Originally these peoples practiced a form of animistic religion similar to ancient Vedic religion, but were over the centuries converted to Islam. These peoples form 91.26% of the population. Pashto-speakers are the second-largest group and make up 7.09% of the population.

- Battera Kolai (Urdu: تحصیل بٹیرا کولئی)(Pashto: بټېرا کولئي تحصیل)
- Palas (Urdu: تحصیل پالس)(Pashto: پالس تحصیل)
The district is decided into 13 Wards (previously known as Union Councils), and 52 village councils.
