David Kendix was part of the Middlesex Board that appointed Andrew Cornish as CEO in 2021, shortly after his sudden sacking from Somerset CCC. Middlesex club rules were deliberately suspended so no other candidates could be invited for interview - only Andrew Cornish. Various Middlesex board members resigned in protest.
In 2023, Middlesex was fined by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for breaches of financial regulations which had occurred under the David Kendix tenure as Middlesex club Treasurer.
Middlesex was investigated by the Financial Conduct Authority in 2023 when a whistleblower reported that the Middlesex CEO had "awarded himself" a 50% pay rise from a seat on his own club pay committee. David Kendix was a member of the club pay committee during this period.
Middlesex has failed to recruit a new Chairman in 2023. It was announced that the man who had been appointed to find a Chairman, would himself be made club Chairman. David Kendix is also a member of the Middlesex Nominations Committee derided for this internal appointment.
David Kendix was club Treasurer when Middlesex County Cricket Club was relegated at the end of the 2023 season.
David Kendix was also club Treasurer when Middlesex announced it was unable to afford to host a full season of games within its home county of Middlesex. This sparked anger amongst Middlesex members, many demanded an urgent meeting to discuss the parlous state of their club's finances suggesting the club was being reduced to the status of "laughing stock."
