My name is Shu Yin and I am a first year student at UC Davis planning to switch into Design. I am particularly interested in Fashion design and planning to explore product/ UX design. I've decided to switch my major from Psychology to doing something creative because I'm more of a hands-on person and like to express myself through creativity. After college, I hope to work in a graphic or product design/ UX UI company and work with fun applications to help enhance user's experience. In my free time, I like to listen to music and play badminton with my friends.

Skills

I'm an independent worker but strive to work well in a team setting. One special skill that I have is I can sew, but not as intermediate. I only sew whenever there is something that needs to be fixed.

Repair experience

I have never fixed anything big or major except for sewing the holes on my clothes or stitches that needed to be fixed.

Projects/ accomplishments; Accolades

One project that I've made that is not related to sewing was creating a video project when I was in my Freshman year of high school with my fellow interns. We were able to create an interview video from the beginning to the end. I felt really proud of it because it was my first time working with actual camera equipment and with complex editing application.

During high school, I received an award for a spoken word poetry that I wrote about my background and ancestry where I was able to present it in front of an audience. I received a special a recognition based on my cultural resilience.

Fast Start Project and Career Development

This project will benefit me professionally in developing effective ways I can design guides or manual to communicate to the user. In graphic/ UX UI/ product design, it can allow me to effectively design products or visual components for the user to effectively utilize the product.
