Hey there!
My name is Bryan and I am a junior at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, actively pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. I excel in researching beyond the curriculum and have a deep passion for acquiring new knowledge and skills. I aspire to pursue a Master of Science degree in either Artificial Intelligence or Computer Science to further advance my education. My primary focus is on Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, Cybersecurity, and backend web development in Java.
I chose to pursue Computer Science and AI because every since I was a kid, I was always fascinated by computers. From taking apart my parent's laptop at 9 years old and putting it back together, to building my first every PC in high school, I have always gravitated towards computers. Before college, I chose Computer Science as an option, not really knowing if it was a career I truly wanted in life, but after entering college I was reassured it was the right thing to do. I have excelled in classes ever since, and have been filled with curiosity and questions, pursuing the answer to them.
I hope in the future that I can become a person of value in the field of Computer Science. Whether that is contributing to research, helping out consumers with the products I help develop, or even just helping people freely, I just want to be able to help. I dream that one day, I can help provide for all the people I care for, knowing that I did the best I could in life in order to become the best version of myself, and provided for others.
Skills which I have developed over the years are:
- Proficiency in Java Core, JUnit, and Maven
- Implementing Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and Spring Security.
- Knowledge of Software Testing, Unit Testing, and Quality Assurance principles
- Knowledge of neural networks and proficiency in deep learning techniques
- Deploying servers and using AWS
- Java and Spring Framework
- JavaScript
- HTML/CSS
- Python
- C
- Quick-learner
- Self-motivated
- Enthusiastic
- Problem-solver
- Adaptable
- Collaborative
The first of my projects relating to Computer Science was building a neural network from scratch, which I taught to identify images. This took a while but was genuinely a fun, interesting project.
This photo is the second project, the largest of all of my projects, relating to Computer Science. During my internship as a Cybersecurity Engineering Intern at Macrophage Security, I gained invaluable hands-on experience in software development and cloud computing. In this role I deployed a website through AWS Core Services in order to train future employees and interns.
The above photo is one of my favorite hobbies recently, which is playing disc golf. I have been able to genuinely enjoy this sport, appreciating the natural outdoors, and resonate with the nature around me. It is also competitive which I like.
Fun fact: I have 2 dogs, 1 whose name is Levi (favorite character from one of my favorite anime shows) and the other is Oliver (my first and oldest dog, and I just love him.) who is 13 years old!
