Hello, my name is Stephen Carrozza and I am currently a sophomore studying Civil Engineering at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth. I am thoroughly enjoying my time so far at UMass, where I have learned extensive knowledge in the field of engineering. I am highly interested in designing architecture as well as studying the environmental side of engineering, to learn more about the problems facing our ecosystem. Additionally, I have been able to use the information given to me in class to assist me in pursuing these goals.

When preparing for interviews and internships down the road, I believe that I have many skills that allow me to stand out as a person and engineer. I work well with other people which is essential for engineering as it requires individuals to work hands on. Likewise, I have always been a leader inside and outside of the classroom. In high school, I was captain of the baseball team which allowed me to mentor the younger players and guide them through playing at a competitive level. Inside of the classroom, I try to take advantage of every opportunity that I am given and work to my fullest potential, especially during group projects.

In my four years of high school, I partook in an engineering class that allowed me to create new projects with my classmates. For example, I built a hydraulic dump truck that could items on the table. This project taught me about how important hydraulic systems are for machines. In addition, I built a windfarm that taught me about how important renewable energy is for society, rather than using nonrenewable energy. Although I participated in many projects surrounding the topic of engineering, I have not had the opportunity of repair anything. At Umass, I am not currently in anything clubs related to engineering, but I am apart of the baseball team, which has allowed me to form connections with my fellow classmates as well as meet kids in my chosen major. In my free time, I work out, hang out with my friends, and cheer on the athletics within my school.

Overall, this project can help me both professionally and personally as more people will know more about me aside from engineering. I believe that it is important to connect with individuals below the surface which can allow for conversation and personality. Professionally, I hope this project will connect me with future jobs and set me on the right path to success. If nothing else comes from this project, I hope that it allows me to grow as a person and reach a larger audience.
