Hello! Welcome, my name is Satumbu, Satu for short. I'm a third year Information & Technology student at York University in Toronto, Ontario.
I was born and raised in Lusaka, Zambia, where most of my family still live today. I love travelling and experiencing new regions so it has been great living here so far (excluding winters!)
The bear in my display picture represents the duality that exists within all humans.
I chose to study IT because I observed how it continued to play a role in daily life. Most organizations today can seen as tech companies. At the smallest scale, using technology to aid their decision making, communication, data storing, etc. I aspire to acquire skills and knowledge that would be make me useful within this environment.
In my spare time I have used Wordpress to design and deploy simple websites for some friends and family to help bring their ideas to life. My proudest projects among these were a digital marketing agency website and a mental health/body positivity platform.
I do not have any prior experience fixing anything, apart from gluing broken toys back together when I was a child. I'd like to learn how to fix/replace computer components. I believe that would be an essential step in moving away from the current 'throw-away' culture prevalent today.
