Who am I?

I'm an instructor at Austin Community College, and I've been teaching the iFixit project for about 10 years at three different schools. I love the iFixit project because it gives students hands-on, collaborative technical writing experiences and allows them to become published technical writers.

What is my repair knowledge?

When I first started teaching the iFixit project, I had never repaired anything before. I was stuck in a cycle of throwing out things that needed minor repairs and rebuying new, which was not a great strategy for a poor graduate student. However, teaching this project really changed my life--as I saw students break apart devices, the inside of electronics became more and more familiar, and I began trying out minor repairs. I have also learned and helped students learn how to complete complex repair tasks, including solder and getting through a Cricut and headphones repair guide in the process of teaching the course.

What projects have I completed?

Some of the projects I am most proud of are repainting and refinishing my daughter's crib, repairing my dishwasher, and replacing the memory and battery in my laptop.
