I was born a tinkerer, from disassembling and reassembling my record player at the age of 8 or 9 (just to see what makes it turn) to buying an inexpensive first computer long ago so I could take it apart without fear of losing an investment. Later built PCs bit by bit and disassembled my laptops down to the CPU & motherboard to keep them clean. Once, I fixed a printer by baking the mainboard in the oven to reflow the aging solder---it worked! Now, I'm finally retired and enjoying the fun of having more time to tinker with all things both tech and non-tech to fix, alter, improve, jury-rig, etc. "What does THIS button do?" is my byline, so I'm glad to be here and do this.
