Hi, I'm Addison!
I grew up in Austin, Texas, and studied English literature at the University of Texas (UT) at Austin. I then did graduate work at the University of North Texas (UNT) at Denton.
While at UNT, I served as the Eagle Technical Communicators Organization (ETC) president, where I led meetings, developed content, and hosted multiple professional development workshops. I also worked as a technical editor at the UNT Research and Innovation office, editing dozens of scientific and technical proposals.
I also took a collaborative UNT course partnered with the iFixit Technical Writing Project. Two other tech comm students and I built a set of five guides for the Gateway Solo 1200. I enjoyed the project so much that I created three more guide sets; the Rapoo 8200P Keyboard, the Logitech Dexxa, and the Dell L100 U021 Keyboard.
The iFixit team contacted me about the Alumni program and supported me in writing the Razer Viper Mini guide set. My next goal is to complete the Razer DeathAdder V2 guide set, sometime in April 2024. I find the projects challenging and enjoyable.
I work full-time as a technical communicator and actively participate in the North Texas Lone Star Chapter (NTLSC) of the Society for Technical Communication (STC). I set aside time weekly to mentor students new to technical communication at both UNT and UT at Arlington.
Outside of technical communication, I like to play basketball, RPG video games like Assassin's Creed, the Horizon Series, and Mass Effect, and travel around to local curiosities, like museums, lakes, and restaurants.
