Introduction

This guide will teach you how to replace the battery of the Toshiba Portege Z835-P330.

    • Remove the thirteen 1.4mm screws on back of device using a Phillips #2 screwdriver.

    • Locate hidden screw found in the middle of back hardcover.

    • Found under rubber covering shown in picture.

    • Remove the single Torx Security screw using a TR7 screwdriver.

    • Force may be required but hardcover should detach smoothly.

    • Remove the six 1 mm screws using a Phillips #1 screwdriver.

    • Remove the white plug connected to the battery by gently pulling it out of the socket.

    • Plug should easily detach without force.

    • Lift battery up by its sides, and it should easily come off.

These steps also work for the Z935-P300. NOTE: the center screw in step two is a Torx Security TR7.

Will it lose it’s memory when the power and battery are disconnected? Do I need to back it up before I do this? My battery is so dead that the laptop shuts down after just a few minutes without the ac cord plugged in.

I suspect you have already completed your repair and now know the answer, however, in the event that you are still waiting on a response. The short answer is no, the storage drive will not loose data when changing the battery. Despite this, it is always wise to have a backup.
