Introduction

This digital thermometer makes an uncomfortably high-pitched and loud beep. For some people, the sound emitted from the device is inaudible because it is too high pitched. In the UK, the thermometer is sold under the Boots brand name.

Here is how I stopped it from making the beeping noise. This will invalidate your warranty, obviously.

    • Using a coin or a flat-bladed screwdriver, turn the battery cover to the open position.

    • Remove the battery cover.

    • Remove the battery.

    • Remove two small cross-headed screws.

    • Remove the back cover.

    • Cut the two white wires attached to the beeper. I left one wire shorter than the other so the ends won't touch each other accidentally.

    • Reassemble the device. It will work normally but with no sound.

    • Enjoy peaceful beep-free measuring.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
