Introduction

If you've never removed a digitizer/glass combo from an electronic device, they are all fairly similar. Just be sure and use back and forth strokes to distribute heat evenly. If you are unsure, look up a video for a Galaxy or even iPad screen replacement.

Excessive heat can damage the components in your phone. You have been warned.

Proceed slowly! Replacing screens is not for impatient people, this process requires a delicate touch. It is very possible to damage your phone if you are not careful.

    • Before starting, you need to remove the back case, the battery, SIM card and Micro SD Card.

    • Next remove the screws around the perimeter of the device.

    • With a prying tool, carefully lift the plastic case covering the logic board and set aside.

    • NOTE: There may adhesive holding the bezel to the midframe. If it is difficult to pry off the bezel, heat it up around edges to soften adhesive. Do not pry on midframe hard at the top edge of the screen it will damage the LCD.

    • You need to place your prying tool in the space between the screen and the case and lift the plastic case towards the back of the phone. Be careful around the buttons.

    • Here you can see the bottom casing separated from the top, now exposes the motherboard.

I am not able to download pdf file from any where in my grand phone as I have 2 gb 3g data chevked

    honey -

Hi there, I can't say I quite understand your question. Are you saying that you cannot download the PDF to a location in your phone, or your phone just won't download PDFs?

Can you connect to wifi and try to download it that way? I have had issues with my phone downloading certain files at times.

    Jeremy Thompson -

I just opened the phone and puted it back together and the menu and back buttons are not responding. if I press the back button it acts like if i was pressing the lower screen. What could it be?

    Edgardo -

Can I use my hairdryer in place of the heat gun?

    scootchie -

    Scootchie,

As long as you make sure you have enough heat on the device a hair dryer should work OK.

    • Remove the cables circled in red by carefully lifting up on them with a prying tool.

    • Remove the flex cable with the green circle by lifting the black clip to the right with a prying tool. See second picture, the clip lifts up and towards the cable (note the line on the logic board. This is how it needs to go back!) Remove the front facing camera and set aside.

    • There is one screw securing the logic board at the bottom next to the Micro SD slot. (Circled in red in third picture)

    • Remove the logic board from the frame (paying careful attention to the flex cables) and set it aside.

    • Now that we have removed the logic board we can safely remove the glass and digitizer.

    • With a heat gun about 3-5 inches above the device, heat a section to enter with our prying tool. Slide the prying tool under the glass (Try to keep your prying tool from going too deep under the bezel of the glass. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY SCRATCH THE LCD.)

    • Go all the way around the screen (be sure to heat if you encounter any resistance. (The adhesive is very easy to get through with a tool when hot) When prying the glass up, be careful around the back button and menu buttons, they can stick to the glass.

    • Once you have pried the glass up, set the home button aside. Release the clip holding the digitizer cable. Now pull the cable through the housing of the phone.

    • Be sure to remove all adhesive and put new adhesive in its place.

    • Route the new digitizer cable through the housing in the phone and insert into slot in logic board. The lines on the cable will match the lines on the motherboard. Replace the home button (be sure to test it for that good ol' click!) and secure the glass.

    • Repeat the steps in reverse order for reassembly.

    • Once you have secured the logic board screw, front facing camera, and pushed all flex cables back in place, insert the battery, turn the device on and test the screen. If device tests successful, reassemble entirely. (I always test my devices before putting them back together and I recommend you do the same, it'll save you time and headaches!)

    • Congratulations, you did it!

Everthing went fine and I did all like I suppose to, but my touch screen is not working, then I bought another one and still same problem not responding. I have experience changing screens everything seems ok.

    Milan Petkovic -

Hi, I have the same problem as you. Did you solve it?

I replaced the touchscreen and right now my Samsung i9082 has to be to much sensible to touch. It is a procedure to calibrate the sensibility of a new touchscreen?

Laurentiu TUDOR -

Hello. To the best of my knowledge, modern touch screens do not require calibration due to the way a digitizer is designed to work. It sounds like your replacement is faulty or perhaps a cable is not completely secured. Check your ribbon cables and if those are good contact the vendor you got the screen from.
