Introduction
The purpose of heat pipes is to draw unwanted heat from the other components of the computer. You may want to remove the heat pipes if the computer is overheating to clean out the heat sinks on the end of the pipes. If the heat pipes are damaged and not working properly they should be replaced. The heat pipes are also required to be removed to work on some other components in this device.

Using a Torx T5 screwdriver, remove the ten 1/8 inch screws securing the back cover.

Remove the back cover.

Using a Phillips #0 screwdriver, remove the six 8 mm screws holding the cooling rod to the motherboard .
